How to Decompress an XeX (to Make it Work With Halo: Reach Gravity Modifier)
How to Decompress an XeX By Twis7eD of InsomniacGamerZ.net This tutorial will teach you how to easily decompress and decrypt an XeX file. The purpose for this can be a number of things. I will be doing it so that we can use the XeX in Xerax's Halo: Reach Gravity Modifier which requires a decompress and decrypted XeX. Requirements: X360GameHack An XeX from any game(I will be using Halo: Reach's default.xex) Halo: Reach Gravity Modifier(Not required unless you want to change Halo: Reach's gravity) 1. Open X360GameHack. You will be presented will a screen similar to this: ![]() 2. Now click the Browse button at the top right of the program. ![]() 3. Search for the folder that has the XeX in it that you want to decompress. ![]() 4. Once you have selected the folder that contains the XeX, you are going to want to make sure that the options called Remove Encryption and Remove Compression are checked. Leave all other settings alone, as they are. Then click the Fix button. ![]() 5. After you click the Fix button, the program may freeze for a couple seconds. Then once the file is "fixed" it will show this at the bottom of the program: ![]() 6. Now go to the folder that contains the XeX. There should be two files. One will be called default.xex, which is the new decompressed, decrypted Xex and one will be called default.xex.orig, which is the original XeX. ![]() By this point you are done. If you are going to modify Halo: Reach's gravity, then continue. If you only wanted to decrypt and decompress the XeX, then you are done. 7. Open the Halo: Reach Gravity Modifier. Close X360GameHack if you still have it open, we are done with it. The Halo: Reach Gravity Modifier will look like this when it opens: ![]() 8. Now drag your XeX into the program. ![]() 9. Press enter once you are presented with the screenshot from step 8. 10. You will now be presented with the screen to enter the new single player gravity. I will make it 5. After you have entered your value, press enter. ![]() 11. Now enter the Multiplayer gravity value and press enter. ![]() Congratulations, you have now modded the single player and multiplayer gravity of Halo: Reach!
