Hakuoki returns as a PSP action game

Your favorite visual novel about romancing a group of samurai is about to get less romantic and more violent. Hakuoki: Warriors of the Shinsengumi is a spinoff for PSP, in which you control the six characters from the previous game in an alternate history version of ... well, what was already an alternate history.

Set in the late Edo period in Japan, the story follows a young woman, Chizuru, searching for her lost father, accompanied by the Shinsengumi. Players will take control of any of the Hakuoki characters, in two modes, one faithful to the Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom storyline and one "alternate."

Aksys will release this unlikely spinoff on PSP "soon;" no specific date was revealed.
